Michael Sherrin
Michael Ford Sherrin, 55, of Newtown, Pa., died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 1996, at his home.
Born Jan. 13, 1940, in Burlington, he was the son of Geroge F. and Irene Ford Sherrin.
He was a graduate of Burlington High School and received a Master's Degree in music histoy and literatrue from Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill.
He then spent two years teaching music with the Peace Corps in Freetown, Sierra Leon, West Africa. Upon his return to the states, he completed a master's program in music education through Haravard University in Cambridge, Mass.
Mr. Sherrin had worked for the Metropolitan Opera and had been the director of music and charman of the arts department at the George School in Bucks County, PA., retiring recently with 20 years of serevice.
Survivors include his mother, Irene Sherrin Tilly of Ashland, PA.; four aunts; an uncle; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceeded in death by his father and one sister.
A priviate funneal service was held Jan. 6 at the Charles Swartz Funeral Home in Newtown, Pa. A priviate memorial service will be held at a later date in Burlington.
A memorial has been established for a scholarship fund to provide tuition assistance to gifted students of the arts. Donations may be mailed to the Michael Sherrin Scholarship Fund, c/o George School., Box 4438 Advancement Office, Newtown, Pa. 18940.

Memorial services for Mr. Michael Ford Sherrin, 55, who passed away January 2, 1996, at his home in Newtown, Pennsylvania, will be held in Prugh's Chapel on Saturday, February 10, 1996, at 12:30 P.M. Fr. Thomas Parlette will officiate. A memorial has been established for a scholarship fund to provide tuition assistance to gifted students of the arts. Donations may be made to the Michael Sherrin Scholarship Fund.
