New London (IA) -- Last rites for 72-year-old Herman Diedrich Schnupper will be held at the Elliott Chapel at 3 p.m. Friday. Reverend William Heinsig, pastor of Grace and Salem Lutheran churches of Prairie Grove, will officiate, and burial will be in the Prairie Grove cemetery.

Schnupper was killed at 1 p.m. Wednesday at his farm home 1½ miles east of Danville when the shotgun he was cleaning accidentally discharged, the charge striking him in the upper abdomen.

A native of Prairie Grove, Schnupper was born January 10, 1868, the son of Dick and Anna Harms Schnupper. He married Nellie Louise Miller at Burlington on July 24, 1922. He was a member of Grace church.

The widow survives, as do 2 daughters, Mrs. Frances Lucille Terry, Danville, and Doris Lane Schnupper, at home; a sister, Mrs. Lena Heinen, of Burlington, and 2 grandchildren. Three brothers and 2 sisters are dead.
