Wayne Junior John, 82, of Burlington, died at 3:30 a.m. Friday, September 30, 2005, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born March 15, 1923, in Chicago, he was the son of Wayne and Edith Riggs John. On August 27, 1943, he married Ilene V. Kirkpatrick in Kahoka, Missouri. She died March 20, 1975.

Mr. Hohn worked for several union trucking companies, retiring from Hyman Freightways in 1983.

He was of the Protestant faith. His interests included tinkering and repairing cars and pickup trucks and traveling.

Survivors include one son, Leonard John of Eldridge; one daughter, Pamela Jean Marruffo of Bakersfield, California; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the time of service Monday in Prugh's Chapel.

The funeral for Mr. John will be 10 a.m. Monday at Prugh's Chapel, with the Rev. Tyrone Henderson officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
