Mrs. Albert Gugeler Taken by Death
Burlington Woman Dies in Hospital
After Illness of Five Weeks.

Mrs. Emma Gugeler, 57 years old, wife of Albert Gugeler, 1018 South Starr avenue, died at 8:46 o'clock last night in Burlington hospital, following an operation performed Monday in an effort to save her life. She had been ill for the last five weeks.

Mrs. Gugeler, whose maiden name was Emma Roeder, was born in Friedheim, Germany, May 17. 1867, and came to this country when 17 years old. She lived for a while at Monmouth, Ill., and was married on March 30. 1887. From that time until they moved to Burlington three years ago, she and her husband had lived on a farm near Burlington.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Gugeler leaves three sons, Oscar, Edward and Walter Gugeler, and one daughter, Mrs. Louise Sourwine, all of the vicinity of Burlington; four sisters, Mrs. Will Nees of Monmouth. Ill., Mrs. Rudolph Manske and Mrs. Charles Pflanz of Memphis. Mo., and Mrs. Charles Stanton of Eaton, Colo., and five grandchildren. One son, Carl, died five years ago.

Mrs. Gugeler was devoted to her home and family, and was a faithful member of Zlon Evangelical church and an active worker in the ladies' aid society.

Arrangements for the funeral will be announced later.
