Donna Jo Burnett, 60, of Burlington, died 12:45 AM, Sunday, August 14, 2005, at her home. Born January 21, 1945, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Wayne A. and Martha C. Crippin Riepe. Mrs. Burnett was a production worker at Champion Spark Plug for 33 years, retiring in 2001. She was a 1963 graduate of Burlington High School. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and was active in the children's youth group. She liked to cook, read, and spend time with her grandchildren. Survivors include her longtime companion Hollis Palmer; one son, Scott (Kimberle) Burnett of Burlington; one daughter, Dianna Burnett of Marion; seven stepsons, Mike (Virginia) Palmer of LaHarpe, Terry (Judy) Palmer of Topeka, KS, Doug (Carol) Palmer of Blandinsville, IL, Larry (Brenda) Palmer of Carthage, IL, Matt (Mandy) Palmer of Blandinsville, IL, Jason (Ruth) Palmer of Fountain Green, IL, and Jerry (Monica) Burnett of Middletown; one grandson; 17 step grandchildren; eight step great-grandchildren; one uncle, J.B. Crippin of Marcilline, MO and one sister-in-law Nancy Burnett of Astoria, IL; and several nieces and nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, two grandchildren and one brother. Visitation will begin after noon, Wednesday, August 17, at the Hass-Thielen Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:30 PM until 8:00 PM. The Funeral Service for Mrs. Burnett will be 10:00 AM Thursday, August 18, in the Chapel of the Hass-Thielen Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Forrest Krummel officiating. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. Memorials have been established to Hospice of Central Iowa and P.A.W. Animal Shelter in Ft. Madison.
