James Carl Penrod, 67, of Oquawka, Ill. died at 12:31 a.m. Monday, Jan. 12, 2009, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born April 10, 1941, in Burlington he was the son of Ray and Venessa Kimbrough Penrod. On Dec. 5, 1959, he married Donna Augustin in Mount Pleasant. They divorced.

Mr. Penrod worked in production at JI Case for 23 years. He was affiliated with the Lutheran Church. He enjoyed fishing, camping, four wheeling, the casino and the outdoors.

Survivors include four sons, Anthony Penrod of Burlington, Christopher Howell of Columbus, Miss., Todd Penrod of Memphis, Tenn. and James
Penrod II of Raleigh, N.C.; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Floyd Penrod and Dick Penrod both of Burlington; four sisters, Georgianna Vantiger of Mount Union and
Florence Bolander, Elsie Stafford and Barb Glendening all of Burlington; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one son, one grandchild, his parents and one sister.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at Prugh's Chapel in Burlington where the family will receive friends.

The funeral for Mr. Penrod will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Prugh's Chapel with the Rev. JudyAnn Morse officiating.

A memorial has been established in his name.
