Lawson was born June 28, 1922, in Fairfield, the son of James Clyde and Catherine Turner Lawson. He married Maurine "Peg" LaVonne Ridenour Oct. 16, 1948, in Kahoka, Mo. She died June 22, 1989. He graduated from Fairfield High School and served as a 3rd Class Petty Officer in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a machinist for Burlington Northern Railroad for 20 years, retiring in 1984. He then was employed as city maintenance and water superintendent in West Burlington. He also served on the city's council from 1951-1955. He was a member of VFW, American Legion, AARP, and past member of Moose and Eagles lodges. He helped start Little League and Babe Ruth League in West Burlington. He served with the West Burlington Fire Department for more than 27 years, receiving the Governor's Award for Outstanding Fire Service.

Survivors include two daughters, Sue Runnells and Sandy Truitt, both of Oakville; five grandchildren; and four nephews. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

(I extensively research the Lawson lineage.)
