Margaret Mae Koestner, 83, of Burlington, died at 5:21 AM, Friday, September 22, 2006, at the Great River Medical Center, Klein Center in Burlington. Born May 30, 1923, in West Burlington, she was the daughter of John Paul and Hazel Theresa Ruff Haugh. On October 19, 1946, on a crisp Autumn day she wed the love of her life Joseph Anthony Koestner at St. Mary's Catholic Church in West Burlington. He died January 21, 1995. Along with her husband, Margaret was instrumental in the founding of the family business, Koestner Electric. She took great pride in providing a loving spiritual home to her seven children. She was a 1941 graduate of Burlington High School. She was a member of SS. John and Paul Catholic Church and the Legion of Mary. Volunteering at St. John?s was one of the many things she did to serve her community. She was an avid card player, enjoyed traveling and attending all of her children and grandchildren's activities. She especially enjoyed visiting her children and grandchildren. Survivors include five sons, John (Anne) Koestner of Danville, IA, Mark (Lynne) Koestner of Creve Coeur, MO, Paul (Tara) Koestner of Centerville, IA, Gregg (Heather) Koestner of Burlington, and Carl (Shelli) Koestner of Louisville, KY; two daughters, Mary Jo (David) Baras of St. Petersburg, FL, and Rita (Bob) Pratt of Kansas City, MO; 14 grandchildren, Kevin Koestner, R.J. Pratt, Kelli Ross, Michelle Pratt, Lindsay Koestner, Jacqueline Baras, Lauren Baras, Jennifer Pratt, Bryan Koestner, Tyler Baras, Heidi Pratt, Lexie Koestner, Cody and Cheyenne; one great-granddaughter, Aubrey Koestner; two sisters, Dorothy Liechty of Burlington and Mary Ann Stout of West Burlington; and 34 nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents. . Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
