Charlotte M. Grabbe, 87, of Inverness, Florida, formerly of Davenport, died after a brief illness Tuesday, December 7, 1999, at Avante at Inverness Nursing Home.

Born January 18, 1912, in Kingston, she was the daughter of Leonard and Bertha Vorwerk Panther. On November 4, 1931, she married John A. Whalen in Burlington. He died December 24, 1942. She later married Charles "Dewey" Grabbe in September 1950 in Davenport. He died April 20, 1987.

Mrs. Grabbe was past president of St. Ambrose Catholic Church Altar and Rosary in Milan, Illinois, past president of the Quad City Sweet Adeline's for 26 years, a member of Milan PTA and a former member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Davenport and its Altar and Rosary before moving to Inverness. In Inverness, she was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church and Happy Timers Club of Inverness.

Survivors include three daughters, Rosalene M. Walsh of Inverness, Ruth Ann Quick of Davenport and Joan Korash of Farmington Hills, Michigan; one son, Charles T. Grabbe of Higganum, Connecticut; one sister, Ruth Estelle of Jessup; one brother, Ervin Panther of Rock Island, Illinois; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Besides her husbands, she was preceded in death by two daughters.

Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday in Halligan McCabe De Vries Funeral Home in Davenport, with a prayer service at 5 p.m., and from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday in St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Davenport.

The funeral for Mrs. Grabbe will be at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
