William A. Andre died at 6 p.m. Sept. 18 in the Iowa Soldiers & Sailors home at Marshalltown, where he had been a resident since last July 8.

A native of Burlington, Andre was born July 20, 1879, and was married, also at Burlington, to Myrtle Springsteen in September of 1907. He served in the Philippine islands during the insurrection at the turn of the century.

Andre is survived by his widow; four sons: George Andre, Milan, Ill.; Harold Andre, St. Louis; Kenneth Andre, Des Moines, and Elmer Andre, Burlington route two and two daughters, Mrs. Fern Walker and Mrs. Dorothy Smothers, both of Burlington route two.

Also surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Marie Griffith, Memphis, Tenn.; Mrs. Helen Cosler, Coffeyville, Kan., and Mrs. Catherine Peterson of Burlington. A son, a sister and a grandson are dead.

Last rites will be held at Burnett-Wallen funeral home at 9:30 Monday morning. Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery.
