Michael Dean Eastin, 56, of Burlington died at 9:41 a.m. Thursday, May 29, 2008, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.
Born Aug. 9, 1951, in Burlington, he was the son of Dean Edmond Eastin and Clella Catherine Hamilton. On March 21, 1970, he married Toni Renee Adams in Burlington. She died Jan. 23, 2006. Mr. Eastin was a cashier at Farmer's and Merchant's Bank in Burlington. He was a graduate of the University of Iowa and attended St. Mary & Patrick Catholic Church. He was a member of the Burlington Golf Club and Chamber of Commerce. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing cards and spending time with his dog, Lady.
Survivors include one son, Jason Eastin of Burlington; one daughter, Jamie Anderson of Burlington; five grandchildren; his mother; four sisters, Sharon Heintz of Ventura, Calif., Sheryl Eastin of Iowa City, Sue Engler of Coralville and Sandra Grinnell of Burlington; two brothers, Gregory Eastin and Steven Eastin, both of Burlington; nieces; and nephews. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his father, one son and one brother.
Visitation with family will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at Prugh's Funeral Home. The funeral for Mr. Eastin will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary & Patrick Catholic Church in West Burlington, with the Rev. David Steinle officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. A memorial has been established for his grandchildren's education.
