William Schrader

William Garrett Schrader, 74, of Burlington, died at Great River Medical Center ICU, on Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at 6:58 a.m.

Born on April 1, 1936 in Wever, IA, he was the son of Glenn Fred and Nora Brandt Schrader. He married Donna Mae Wirt on March 29, 1969 in Kingston, IA.

Bill was a graduate of Huron High School. He served in the US Army and then returned to the family farm where he continued his lifelong love of farming. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, playing cards, the outdoors and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a memer of Kingston United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Donna; one son, Bryan Allan (Bree) Schrader of Sperry; one brother Harry (Joyce) Schrader of Burlington; sister-in-law, Betty (William) Foley of Mediapolis; brother-in-law, Jimmie (Lorraine) Wirt of Burlington; four grandchildren, Bryce, Kinzie, Brandt and Koy; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, James and Kenneth; one sister, Dorothy Kirby; and one nephew, Mike Schrader.

Funeral services for William Garrett Schrader were held on Saturday, October 23 at 3 p.m. at Mediapolis United Methodist Church. Pastor Earlene Lekwa and Rev. Mel Miller officiated. Interment will be in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in rural Sperry at a later date. Following the service, cremation was accorded.

A memorial has been established for Kinston United Methodist Church.
