Agnes “Pauline” Massey, 75, of Burlington, died on Monday, May 31, 2010 at her home from an extended illness.
Born on January 12, 1935 in Burlington, she was the daughter of Archie Lee and Ella Goble Brockway. On March 14, 1954, she married William H. Massey Jr. in Kingston. He died May 6, 2009.
Mrs. Massey worked for Chittenden and Eastman and the Mediapolis Care Center for several years, retiring in 1992. She attended Sunnyside School in Burlington. She was of the Methodist faith. She enjoyed her time spent on the farm in the country and spending time with family and friends, weekend excursions, country music (Grand Ole Opry style) and especially enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her three daughters; Marcia Moore of West Burlington, Carol (Brian) Thacker of Mt. Pleasant and Jeanne (Jeff) Day of Mt. Gilead, Ohio; three sons; Mike (Rhonda) Massey of West Burlington, James (Geri) Massey of Columbus Junction, and Don (Dawn) Massey of Wapello; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; five sisters, Marion Andries and Gladys Wiley of Burlington, Marjorie Rice of Wapello, Eleanor Breuer of Mediapolis, and Delores Christofferson of Cedar Rapids; several nieces and nephews and their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, Viola Basquin and Mary Malone and two brothers Elwood and Robert Brockway.
The graveside funeral service and interment for Mrs. Massey will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 4th in Kossuth Cemetery. Friends may call after noon on Thursday, June 3rd in Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A memorial has been established for the Special Needs Foundation of Burlington.
