Grace Brandt
Grace E. Brandt, 92, of Burlington, died at 12:45 a.m. March 1, 2008, at Great River Medical Center's Klein Center.

Born April 4, 1915, in Des Moines County, she was the daughter of Frank M. and Mable C. Nichols Pforts. On Feb. 29, 1936, she married Charles H. Brandt in West Burlington. He died in 1963.

Mrs. Brandt was a housekeeper and a homemaker. She took pride in cleaning homes for others. She was a member of National Senior Citizens, Golden Oldies and Hawkeye Natives.

Survivors include one daughter, Marjorie A. Johnson of Burlington; one son, James H. Brandt of Moses Lake, Wash.; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one stepgreat-grandchild; one brother, Herbert Pforts of Yarmouth; one sister, Ruth P. Fehse of Burleson, Texas; nieces; and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, one granddaughter, three sisters and two brothers.

Friends may call from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday in Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.

The funeral for Mrs. Brandt will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Lunning Chapel with the Rev. Tyrone Henderson officiating. Entombment will be in Burlington Memorial Park Mausoleum.

A memorial has been established for the American Cancer Society.
