John Wilt

John Michael Wilt, 38, of Burlington, died at 5:45 p.m. Monday, April 22, 2002, at his home, of dermatomyositis, an auto-immune disease.

Born June 7, 1963, in Burlington, he was the son of James O. and Donna Regnier Wilt. He married Wendy Tackleson on April 27, 2001, West Burlington.

Mr. Wilt was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He worked as a registered nurse.

He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. He enjoyed his nursing career, helping people, and planting trees and flowers. He liked his animals.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Kyle Ryan Wilt of Burlington; one daughter, Stephanie Rose Wilt of Burlington; two stepsons, Detroit and Derrick Sly of Burlington; his parents of West Burlington; one brother, James I.Wilt of Portage, Ind.; one sister, Jill Wilt of Burlington; his grandmother, Leona Wilt of Burlington; uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces and many cousins.

He was succeeded in death by his brother, firefighter,Joseph Wilt, his grandparents and one uncles.

A Christian wake service will be at 6:30 p.m. today at St. Paul's Catholic Church, after which the family will receive friends until 8:30 p.m.

The funeral for Mr. Wilt will be at at 2 p.m. Thursday at the church, with the Rev. Patrick Hilgendorf and Pastor Terry Vance officiating. The body will be cremated. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery at a later date.

A memorial has been established.
