Mary Zaiser
Mary Ellen Zaiser, 84, of Burlington, died at 10:40 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, 2008, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born Dec. 29, 1923, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Rex H. and Grace Ellen Kain Baker. On June 8, 1946, she married George John Zaiser Jr. in Burlington. He died Oct. 9, 1987.

Mrs. Zaiser was a salad lady at Burlington Golf Club for 14 years. She was a graduate of Burlington High School. She was a member of SS. Mary and Patrick Catholic Church in West Burlington. She enjoyed traveling in her motor home with her husband.

Survivors include four sons, John Zaiser Sr. of Washington, Ill., Jeffry Zaiser of Byron, Ill., James Zaiser of Sperry, and Jay Zaiser of Fairfield; one daughter, Jane Broeg of Burlington; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; nieces; and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.

Visitation will be from noon to 7 p.m. Monday at Hass-Thielen Funeral Home in Burlington. There will be no family visitation.

The Mass of Resurrection for Mrs. Zaiser will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at SS. Mary and Patrick Catholic Church in West Burlington with the Rev. David G. Steinle officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Burlington.

A memorial has been established for SS. Mary and Patrick Catholic Church in West Burlington.
