Waith U.G. Beck

DANVILLE - Waith U.G. Beck, 55, a prominent Danville farmer and cattle feeder, died of heart failure at 10 a.m. Friday, August 13, in Dodge City, Kan., where he had been since Monday on a cattle buying trip.

Mr. Beck was born Feb. 5,1916, at Danville, the son of Walter and Neul Miller Beck, and was married Mar. 9, 1939. at Burlington to Alice Hoelzen.

He had attended Iowa Wesleyan college, Mt. Pleasant, and was a member of the First Baptist church of Danville, Masonic Lodge 48 AF & AM, St. Omar Commandrey, Chapter 15 at Burlington, Iowa Farm Bureau, a board member for the Chicago Stockyard Foundation, and vice president of the Danville Community Home. He served on the Danville School board 18 years.

Surviving the wife; one daughter, Mrs. Thomas Popa, Cedar Rapids; two sons, Larry and Robert, Danville; five grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Ruthella Campbell, Highland Park, Ill., and Mrs. Kathleen Girving, Oak Lawn, Ill.

Funeral: 3:30 p.m. Monday; First Baptist church, Danville, Rev. Glenn Emmert; Jaggar Cemetery, Danville. The body is at Elliot Chapel, New London.
