Betty Combites
Betty Louise Combites, 84, of Burlington, died at 4:40 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27, 2008 at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born Sept. 29, 1923, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Floyd Duke and Julia Schnicker Burrell. She married Harry Fulkerson and Junior Combites. They later divorced.

Ms. Combites worked at Sheaffer Pen in Fort Madison, retiring in 1990. She loved the outdoors.

Survivors include two daughters, Dianne Brown of Carman, Ill., and Ginger Strausbaugh of Burlington; one son, Roger Fulkerson of Burlington; one stepdaughter, Carole Sue Sulzberger of Burlington; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and her special friend, Bob Richardson of Burlington.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.

Ms. Combites' body has been cremated.

Friends may call from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

There will be no funeral service at this time. Inurnment will be at a later date in Olena Cemetery, Olena, Ill.

A memorial has been established.
