Death by Gun Ruled Suicide
MEDIAPOLIS - Mr. Ralph Frederick Heitmeier, 51, a Mediapolis farmer was found shot to death in the bedroom of his home 3 1/2 miles west of here Wednesday afternoon.

County coroner, Dr. Evan Peterson ruled the death a suicide by a 12-gauge shotgun wound in the head.

THe body was discovered by Mrs. Heitmeier at about 2 p.m. She called the sheriff's officers who took the body to the Fry chapel at Mediapolis.

Ralph Frederick was born March 8, 1912, the son of Frank and Mata Gerdes Heitmeier. He married Mary Ellen Mull at Rock Island, Ill., Feb. 25, 1936.

He is survived by his wife; his mother, Mrs. Mata Heitmeier, of rural Mediapolis; three sons, Troy, of Iowa City; Floyd and Owen, both at home; two sisters, Ruby Regen Bricht, of Seneca Falls, N.Y., and Francis Hill, of Fairmont, Minn.; and two brothers, Lawrence of Sperry, and Willis of Yarmouth.

Services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in the Fry chapel at Mediapolis. The Rev. William Rustenhaven will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery.
