Wesley Willey

Wesley Warren Willey, 75, of New London, died at 7:25 a.m. Saturday, May 6, 2000, at University Hospitals in Iowa City.

Born Dec. 6, 1924, in Henry County, he was the son of John Raymond and Nellie Mae Beames Willey. On Nov. 14, 1942, he married Lucille Madden in Kahoka, Mo.

Mr. Willey was an insurance salesman for 30 years.

He attended New London schools. He was of the Protestant faith. He was a member of Moose Lodge 579 of Burlington.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Connie L. Havener of DeWitt, Peggy A. Byrum of Mount Union and Karen R. Johnson of New London; one son, Wesley W. Willey of New London; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Alice Lopez of Chicago; and two brothers, Frank Willey of Montrose and John Willey of New London.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and three brothers.

Visitation will begin after noon Monday at Elliott Chapel in New London, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

The funeral for Mr. Willey will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Elliott Chapel, with the Rev. Tom Henstock officiating. Burial will be in Burge Cemetery in New London.

A memorial has been established.
