Mrs. A. L. Smith, of New London, mother of Mrs. Paul Gustafson, died May 13, at 2:15 a.m. in Burlington hospital, at the age of 76. She had been admitted to the hospital two hours before her death.

Mattie Elizabeth Brandmeyer, daughter of Fred and Emma Schoenfeldt Brandmeyer, was born at Latty, in Benton township, on Jan. 28, 1880. On March 12, 1902, she was married to Albert L. Smith. They were married at New London.

Mr. and Mrs. Smith farmed in the Yarmouth vicinity for many years, moving to New London 12 years ago.

Surviving are the husband, the daughter, Mrs. Ina Gustafson, Cliff road and two grandsons. Also surviving are a brother and a sister; Fred L. Brandmeyer Danville, and Mrs. Lora Robertson, of Mount Pleasant.

A son, Albert Lewis Smith Jr., died in 1945.

Last rites will be held at the Elliot Chaple in New New London, at 2:30 Tuesday afternoon. Officiating will be the Rev. Paul M. McDade, pastor of the the New London Methodist church, of which Mrs. Smith was a member. Burial will be in Trinity cemetery, six miles north of New London.

The family will meet friends at the chapel Monday evening.
