Warren Bouquet
Warren R. "Nick" Bouquet, 79, of Burlington, died at 9:35 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2007, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.

Born March 20, 1928, in Burlington, he was the son of Nicholas V. and Ida C. Lehmann Bouquet. On June 20, 1952, he married Carolyn R. Wachutka in Burlington.

Mr. Bouquet was a Burlington firefighter for 35 years, retiring in 1984. Many of those years he was stationed at Summer Street Fire Station. After retiring, he served the First United Methodist Church as its custodian. He was a 1945 graduate of Burlington High School and an Army veteran serving during the Korean conflict.

He volunteered many years at Great River Medical Center and the Klein Unit. He was a member and past treasurer of the International Association of Professional Firefighters Local 301 and past president and secretary/newsletter editor of the Burlington Model Airplane Club for more than 20 years. He also was a member of the Moose Club and Great River Friends.

Airplanes were his passion, and he could identify almost any airplane in the sky. He also enjoyed building and flying radio-controlled airplanes.

He lived most of his life at the corner of Curran and Kirkwood, waving to all who passed. He and his wife went to Maine each summer for more than 30 years.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, James W. Bouquet of Auburn, Maine, and Robert W. Bouquet of Allen, Texas; one daughter, Sandra L. Carslick of Brunswick, Maine; six grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Visitation with friends will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Central Fire Station in Burlington.

The funeral for Mr. Bouquet will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Grace United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Charles Downing officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.

Memorials have been established for Great River Hospice House, Burlington Model Airplane Club and First United Methodist Church.
