Mrs. Esther Smith

MT. UNION - Mrs. Esther Pearl Smith, 87, Mt. Union, died Friday afternoon at Burlington hospital.

She was born July 25, 1880, near Yarmouth, daughter of Peter and Lena Rethemeier Funk, Jan. 24, 1900, at Mt. Union, she married Francis Marion Smith.

She was a member of Mt. Union Methodist church and a life member of WSCS.

Surviving: two sons, Howard E. Smith, Mt. Union; Delmer M. Smith, Burlington; and daughter, Mrs. Irma E. Barnett, Des Moines; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Clara Landrum, Danville; Mrs. Flossie Chrissinger, Wapello, Mrs. Nellie Beere, Burlington, and Mrs. Grace Miller, Mediapolis.

Services: 1:30 p.m. Monday, Mt. Union Methodist church, Rev. Richard Hohl; Trinity Cemetery.
