Merrill D.W."Red" Lyons, 63, of Clinton, died Wednesday, Dec. 21, 1994 at Samaritan North Hospital in Clinton.

Born Oct. 22, 1931, in Wapello, he was the son of Ollie and Susie Perkins Lyons. On August 26, 1953, he married Pauline Freyling. She died Feb. 26, 1976. He then married Hannah Schuey on Feb. 15, 1980, in Camanche.

Mr. Lyons had worked at the National Research Bureau in Burlington. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, AmVets, and the Eagles. He played pool in the AmVets pool league, and enjoyed sports and horseshoes.

Survivors include his wife, of Camanche; one daughter, Pam Hoge of Camanche; three sons, Gerald Lyons of Chester, Va., Tom Lyons of Ankeny, and Tim Lyons of Camanche; one step-daughter, Cinda Wiersema of Aurora, Ill.; two stepsons, Harry Pettenger of Millagdeville, Ill., and Robert Schuey of Apache Junction, Ariz.; three brothers, Harold Perkins of Burlington, Darrell Lyons of Muscatine, and Doyle Lyons of Danville; and 18 grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Camanche Chapel, Snell-Zornig Funeral Home in Camanche.

The funeral for Mr. Lyons will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Camanche Chapel, with burial in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery.
