Dwight Cornick
Dwight L. "Butch" Cornick, 85, of rural Morning Sun, died Thursday, Aug. 16, 2007, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born Oct. 4, 1921, in Marsh, he was the son of Pearl and Emma Bolon Cornick. On Jan. 5, 1942, he married Lorna Carlson.

Mr. Cornick was a farmer and enjoyed raising horses. He served on the board of the Mount Union Co-op from 1964 to 1982, serving as president from 1978 to 1982. He served on the board of the Iowa State Bank and was a supporter of the Mount Union Booster Club. He was a graduate of Mount Union High School class of 1939. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Mount Union. He loved dogs and Cardinal baseball.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Terry Cornick of Winfield; two daughters, Deb Conard of Winfield and Jan Seahorn of Georgetown, Ky.; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; five sisters, Lucille Ibbotson and Mildred Wallman, both of Mediapolis, Twyla Harrington of Denver, Colo., Bonnie Campbell of Linden and Connie Clark of Cedar Rapids; and one brother, Dick Cornick of West Liberty.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, two brothers and one grandson.

Visitation with family will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Honts Funeral Home in Winfield.

The funeral for Mr. Cornick will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church in Winfield, with the Rev. Sue Cubbage officiating. Burial will be in the Winfield-Scott Township Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for Great River Hospice and Mount Union Methodist Church.
