Joyce E. Gaddis, 77, of Burlington, died on Thursday, July 12, 2007, at Great River Klein Center in Burlington.

Born July 13, 1929, in Escanaba, Mich., she was the daughter of Russell and Hazel Owen Blomstrom. On May 29,1948, she married Richard B. Gaddis Sr. in Chicago.

Mrs. Gaddis was a homemaker. She was a shop clerk at Helen's Fashions and Modeo-Day and retired from TRW-IRC. She was a member of SS. John and Paul Catholic Church and a past member and officer of Des Moines County Saddle Club, Southeast Iowa Trail Riders Association and the Burlington Womens Club. She was an avid reader, and a Chicago Cubs and Green Bay Packers fan. She enjoyed growing flowers, especially orchids.

Survivors include her husband, one son; Richard B. Gaddis Jr. of Oquawka, Ill., two daughters; Elizabeth Kay Thomas of Virginia, Ill., and Susan L. Wiegard of Burlington, 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, one sister, two grandchildren and two great-grandsons.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Hass-Thielen Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

The funeral for Mrs. Gaddis will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Patrick J. Hilgendorf officiating.

A memorial has been established for Burlington Women's Club Music Scholarship Fund and Great River Hospice.
