Juanita Freeman

Juanita Thyrza Freeman, 88, of Oakville died Wednesday, June 13, 2007, at her granddaughter's home in Danville.

Born March 3, 1919, in Alton, Ill., she was the daughter of David and Gertrude Bethel Mehaffy. On Feb. 23, 1935, she married Fred E. Jennings. On May 11, 1957, she married Alfred E. Freeman. He died Dec. 2, 1974.

Mrs. Freeman was a homemaker. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary No. 489 of Oakville. She loved gardening, fishing, reading and traveling.

Survivors include three sons, Fredrick Jennings of Billerica, Mass., Donald Jennings of Durbin, W. Va., and Karl Jennings Sr. of Morning Sun; three daughters, Ruth Kibling of Gastonia, N.C., Carolyn Jackson of West Burlington and Margaret Jennings of Burlington; one sister, Doris Brown of Burlington; two brothers, Lewis Mehaffy and David Mehaffy Jr., both of Burlington; more than 124 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and three sisters.

Visitation with family will be from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Monday in Parsons Cemetery in Wapello.

The graveside service for Mrs. Freeman will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Parsons Cemetery, with the Rev. Sam Reighard officiating.

A memorial has been established.

Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home in Wapello is providing the care and arrangements.
