M.M. Loper, 79, Dies Thursday

New London, Ia - Following a six-month illness during which he spent the last two weeks at the Holt Nursing home, in Mt. Pleasant, Miles Manson Loper died at 6:45 Thursday evening.

He was born Dec. 4, 1863 at Mediapolis, the son of William and Laura(Thompson)Loper and was married Dec. 12, 1890 to Josephine Wallace at Kossuth, Ia. His parents and two children preceded him in death.

Survivors include two sons, Lawrence and Paul Loper, of Burlington and one daughter, Ethel Zerber of New London with whom he had resided for the past two and one half years. There are also three brothers, Clark Loper, of Lincoln, Neb., and Clarence and Al of Mediapolis; three sisters, Mrs. Emma Larkin, of Kansas City, Mo; Mrs. Jane Hayden, Mediapolis, and Mrs. Winnie Gibson, of Mediapolis, six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Rev. S.W. Sutton, pastor of the Church of Christ, New London will conduct brief services from the McDonald's funeral home, New London, at 1:30p.m. Sunday, followed by services at the Grace Methodist church, Burlington at 3 p.m., Rev. C.O. Strold, pastor of the New London church will officiate at the Burlington service. Burial will be in the Kossuth Cemetery.
