Merle Parrott
Merle Wallace "Butch" Parrott, 60, of Danville died at 5:11 a.m. Saturday, June 2, 2007, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born Oct. 30, 1946, in Burlington, he was the son of Merle Eugene and Mamie Thorton Parrott Sr. On April 28, 1967, he married Carol Luella Wittstock in Burlington.

Mr. Parrott was a general laborer. He was a member of Four Square Gospel Church. He enjoyed writing stories, going to auctions, selling old toys on the Internet and spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Brenda Parrott and Shawn Oliver, both of Danville, and Karen Gerdes of Lomax, Ill.; five sons, Matt Parrott of Fort Madison, Adam Parrott and Jerry Parrott, both of Danville, and Joseph Parrott and Dan Parrott, both of West Burlington; 18 grandchildren; two sisters, Sharon Shoop of Memphis, Mo., and Linda Ware of Gorin, Mo.; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.

Visitation with family will be 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at Prugh's Chapel in Burlington.

The funeral for Mr. Parrott will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Prugh's Chapel in Burlington, with the Rev. Sam Fratt officiating. Burial will be in Jaggar Cemetery, Danville.

A memorial has been established.
