Ruth Hass

Ruth Dee Lewis Hass, 88, of Danville, formerly of Burlington, died at 12:50 p.m. Friday, December 27, 2002, at Danville Care Center.

Born May 24, 1914, in Danville, she was the daughter of Dee N. and Mary Sater Lewis. On June 24, 1939, she married Edward D. Hass in Danville. He died Nov. 9, 1996.

Mrs. Hass was a homemaker. She left the teaching profession in 1948.

She was a 1933 graduate of Danville High School and a 1937 graduate of the University of Iowa. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Burlington, the Norman Circle, Eastern Star and King's Daughters. She enjoyed reading, sewing and needlework.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Dee Hurley of Reinbeck and Jane Ellen Richardson of Bloomfield; and two grandsons.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will begin after 9 a.m. Sunday at Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m.

The graveside service for Mrs. Hass will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Jaggar Cemetery, rural Danville, with the Rev. Dennis Tevis officiating.

A memorial has been established for First United Methodist Church of Burlington.
