Elvena Gesling

Elvena Gesling, 93, of Burlington Care Center, died Friday, Jan. 19, 1996, at the care center.

Born Jan. 21, 1902, in Hancock County, Ill., she was the daughter of Lucien and Salina Bavery Ancelet. She married Elmo Gesling Dec. 31, 1949, at Preston, Minn. He died Aug. 27, 1985.

She attended schools in the Hancock County, Ill., area, and was of the Methodist faith.

Mrs. Gesling had worked in catalog sales for Sears and Roebuck in Burlington.

Survivors include one daughter, Ruth Arbuckle of Mount Pleasant; two stepsons, Virgil Gesling of Downey, Calif., and Leroy Gesling of Morris, Ill.; one stepdaughter, Claramay Pudwill of Camarilla, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one son, one daughter, one stepson, four sisters, and two brothers.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Mediapolis, where the family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m.

The funeral for Mrs. Gesling will be 130 p.m. Monday at Hagele and Honts Funeral Home, with the Rev. John Gaulke officiating. Burial will follow in Kossuth Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for the Social Services Department of Burlington Care Center.
