Edward D. Faust (1939-2021)

Edward Duane Faust, 81, of Lamont, Iowa, passed away on Friday, January 29, 2021, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, after a short illness. He was born on October 1, 1939, the son of Walter D. and Vernita (Opperman) Faust in a rural farmhouse near Strawberry Point. Ed lived and attended school in Strawberry Point area. He retired in 2004 from Tysons in Waterloo after many years.

In 1959 Ed was united in marriage to Edna Bell Sutton, having three children, later divorcing. On December 11, 1976 Edward was united in marriage to Lois Staebler adding six more children to the family. Lois passed away May 31, 2014.

Ed took great pride in his vegetable garden and animals on his small acreage. He also enjoyed playing cards, and spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors of Ed include his two children, Steven Faust and Joanne Bernard, both of Independence; four step-sons, Clyde (Sue) Palmer of Earlville, Lynn (Dacari) Palmer of Winthrop, Joe (Holly) Harry of Keosauqua and Jeff (Sandra) Heins of Lamont; two step-daughters, Donna (Royce) Bandy of Manchester, and Karen (David) Hepker of Delhi; a daughter-in-law, Marcia (Holst) Faust of Independence; 22 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren, with two great-grandchildren on the way; one brother, Kenneth (Faye) Faust of Strawberry Point; four sisters, Carolyn (Steve) Strauss of Tannyville, Missouri; Mary Hilby of Manchester, Marilyn Voshell of Strawberry Point, and Janice (Wayne) Larson of Fayette; and many nieces and nephews.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lois; his son, Doug Faust; his father-in-law Joe Staebler; mother-in-law, Blanche (Bolsinger) Staebler; his two sisters, Lillian (Faust) Satterlee and Dorothy Faust in infancy; and three brothers-in-law, Charles Williams, Don Hilby and Ira Voshell; his daughter-in-law, Linda Faust; and son-in-law, Mike Bernard.
