Head Crushed in Quarry.
Cedar Rapids, Dec. 12.—Thomas S. Dewald, one of Hopkinton’s highly esteemed citizens, was almost instantly killed at Loop’s stone quarry, about two miles south of town. One of the guys of the derrick broke, throwing a large box of dirt against the side of his head with such force that he lived but a few moments.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he is buried in the Hopkinton Cemetery and was born in 1847 and died Dec. 8, 1901.
