J. W. Reed Dead

Yesterday J. D. Sullivan received word that his father-in-law, J. W. Reed, died at his residence one mile and a half east of Sand Springs Wednesday night about 12 o’clock. Mr. Reed was born in Punxsutawney, Pa., Oct 17, 1816, and came to Iowa in 1865.

He was a popular and respected gentleman, and was the father of the late Mrs. J. D. Sullivan of this city. His wife died in 1876, and his children who survive him are Miss Emma Reed, residing at home; Gibson, of Wilsonville, Neb.; John C., of Delaware Center; Mrs. Maggie Hofacre, of Monticello. The funeral was held today.
