PETER MORRIS

Peter Morris was born at Woodhall, New York, January 29th, 1839. He was a son of John and Catherine Morris. He came to Delaware County in the spring of 1854, and has continued to reside here until death called him from his late home six and one-half miles northwest of Manchester on the evening of February 10th, 1916. Thus his sojourn on earth was seventy-seven years and twelve days.

On June 26th, 1865, he was united in marriage to Miss Alice Parsons of Delhi and to them were born four sons and one daughter, all of whom survive him. They are Charles D; John I., Frank A., Dennis V. and Mrs. Ella F. Coleson. Since the death of his wife, which occurred November 23rd, 1913, he has been very sad and lonely and at time his grief seemed almost more than he could bear and doubtless hastened his death. Besides the above named children he leaves to mourn his departure fourteen grandchildren and a number of other relatives. Thus another of Delaware County’s early settlors has been called from our midst and the community has been deprived of a good neighbor and an honest, upright citizen.

The funeral services were conducted from the late home by Rev. R. Wesley Mack of Dundee on Sunday at 11:00, appropriate music being rendered by a choir from Dundee Wesleyan Methodist Church, assisted by Miss Lizzie Cook.
