Mrs. Edwin B. "Lydia N." Miner 1837-1916

Mrs. Lydia N. Miner, one of the pioneer women of Delaware County, passes away at Independence on Friday, February 11th, 1916. The remains were brought to this city and funeral services were held at the Baptist Church Monday afternoon at 2:30. Rev. H. F. McDonald conducted services. Interment was made in the Mead Cemetery.

Mrs. Miner was born in South Bend, Indiana, April 30th, 1837 she came with her parents to Delaware County, and located at Eadís Grove. On February 1st, 1857, she was united in marriage to Edwin B. Miner, who was also a resident of Eadís Grove. Mr. Minerís death occurred February 27th, 1874. During the greater part of the remainder of his life, Mrs. Miner resided in this vicinity and Lamont.

She lives to mourn her death five children, as follows; E.E. Miner, of Marshfield, Wisconsin; Mrs. O. H. Lewis, of Manchester; Mrs. Hattie Foote, of Sycamore, Illinois; Mrs. Millie DeLong, of Oelwein; and W. F. Miner, of Nora Springs, Iowa. One daughter, Minerva A., passed away when seven years of age. All the surviving children were present at the funeral of their mother on Monday afternoon.

In childhood deceased with the Christian church, and retained her faith in that church until the end of life. She was a kind and devoted wife and mother, and her passing brings sorrow to her many friends of former years.
