Mrs. Anna Foster, one of the pioneer women of Manchester, passed away at her home on Howard Street early Sunday morning, September 11th, 1921, after an illness of many weeks.

Funeral services were held at the home (Wednesday) morning at 10:30. Rev. J. Frank Moore, pastor of the First Congregational church of this city had charge of the services. Interment was made in Fairview cemetery at Earlville.

Anna McLee was born in Stockton on Tees, England, August 18th 1846. At the age of four years her parents came to Vermont, and later located at Trenton, New Jersey. In 1861, she was united in marriage with Mr. Wm. G. Foster, He passed away August 25th, 1893.

The family came west and located at Vinton, Iowa, in 1871, and the following year they came to Manchester, which has been her home ever since.

Mrs. Foster is survived by one son, W. R. Foster of Williams, Iowa; and one daughter, Miss May F. Foster, of this city. She is also survived by two grandsons, Harold R. Foster and Wm. M. Foster of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and two great granddaughters, Hortense and Margaret Foster of Minneapolis.

Mrs. Foster was a devout member of the First Congregational church of Manchester, and was a faithful attendant upon the services of the church until ill health prevented. During her declining years Mrs. Foster was tenderly cared for by her daughter, who spared no efforts to minister to every need of the aged mother. Mrs. Foster was also a member of the Eastern Star of Manchester.

The death of this good woman brings sorrow to many who learned to love her for her excellent qualities of heart and mind, and profound sympathy is felt for the daughter and the son, who mourn for her.
