MRS. J. B. DUNHAM

Mrs. J. B. Dunham, one of the pioneer women of the county, passed away at her home on East Fayette Street this (Wednesday) morning, May 4th, 1921. Mrs. Dunham had been spending the past winter with her daughter, Mrs. Ethel Bywater, at Grand Junction, Iowa, and returned to her home here a week ago. Soon after her arrival she was taken critically ill.

Funeral services will be held at the home Friday Morning, at 10:30 o'clock, Rev. H. L. Goughnour, of the First Congregational Church having charge of the same. Interment will be made in Fairview cemetery at Earlville.

Lucy Bridges was born at Williamstown, Massachusetts, in the year 1839. At the age of five years the family moved to New York state, and there her mother passed away. She then made her home with older sisters. She came to Ohio at the age of seventeen to make her home with another sister, and in the early sixties she came to Earlville, Iowa. She was united in marriage with J. B. Dunham on September 23, 1863. For many years she and her family resided in Oneida Township, near Almoral and at Earlville, and in 1907 she came to Manchester, where she had made her home since.

Mrs. Dunham is survived by four children; Mrs. Myrtie B. Smith of Minneapolis; Frank H. Dunham of Oelwein; Buel Dunham of Oneida; an Mrs. Ethel D. Bywater, of Grand Junction. She is also survived by her sister, Mrs. Laura Fay, who is in very feeble health, and at the home of Mrs. Bywater, at Grand Junction. Mrs. Dunham was one of those high-minded Christian women, whose very presence commanded admiration and profound respect. She was a truly good mother, and a kind neighbor and true friend. Her passing brings profound sorrow to the sons and daughters, and the sister, and the large circle of friends.
