MRS EMILY DUNLAP
Mrs. Emily Grace Dunlap was born on the David Miller farm on the 29th day of June, 1872, and passed away at the hospital in Iowa City on November 28th, 1918, following an operation. Emily Grace Miller was united in marriage to Robert Dunlap on February 29, 1888. To this union there were six children born. Ray died in infancy. The five surviving are Ross, Dean, Theodore, Dorothy and Helen. Also four brothers, Rev. David L. Miller, Gordon, Neb.; Howard R. Miller, Monmouth, Iowa; Ray B. Miller, Manchester; and Lester D. Miller, of Fredericksburg, Iowa.
In 1893 the Robert Dunlap family moved to Hay Springs, Neb., and spent twelve years on the western ranch. In 1905 they returned to Iowa and engaged in farming on the farm where the last days were spent.
Mrs. Dunlap was a woman of many fine qualities of mind. As a neighbor and friend she was highly appreciated and greatly esteemed by all who enjoyed her acquaintance. She was always an active and interested worker in church circles and devoted much of her time to the social affairs of the community and heartily co-operating with others in promoting community affairs. This work she was obliged to lay aside about a year ago because of her failing health. Since the death of her husband in 1905 she had devoted herself to her family and interests with a close application which no doubt added to the breaking down of an otherwise strong and healthful constitution. Her children have a benediction in the love and sacrifices of a devoted mother. The funeral services were held at Golden on Wednesday, and the remains were brought to Hopkinton, escorted by many friends, and laid to rest by the side of those of her husband in the Hopkinton cemetery.
