Harley Miller, 81, lifelong resident of Delaware county and Manchester resident since 1932, passed away Monday morning at his home 825 E. Union street following an illness of about 12 years duration.
Funeral services for Mr. Miller were held from the Shelly funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Robert C. Frederich officiating. Burial was made in Oakland Cemetery.
Harley, son of Brady and Emma (Crosier) Miller, was born Dec. 7, 1880, on the parental farm in the Bay Settlement, southeast of Manchester. He grew to young manhood on the parental farm and received his education in the rural schools of the county
He was united in marriage with Nora C. Robinson on Jan. 5, 1910, at Manchester. Following their marriage they engaged in farming all their lives together until 1932 when they retired from farming and moved to Manchester. Mr. Miller entered the employ of the city of Manchester in 1932 and worked for the city continuously until 1946 when the went to work for the Manchester Cemetery company. He worked for them until 1950 when failing health forced his retirement.
Mr. Miller was a member of the Baptist church of Manchester and a member of Manchester Lodge No. 148 IOOF of Manchester.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Nora C. Miller of Manchester, 1 son, Clarence W. Miller of Manchester; a brother, Gerald Miller of Washington, D.C. and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by 2 sons, 1 daughter, his parents, 1 sister and 3 brothers
