Elkader Register, Thur., 29 Aug. 1901. Edgewood column.

Died, at her home in this city, Monday, Aug. 19, 1901, at 3 p.m., Mrs. George S. Peck, aged 65 yrs., 6 months and twenty-four days.

Nancy Elizabeth Scovel was born at Elizabeth, Illinois, January 26, 1836. She was married April 9, 1854, to George S. Peck and they immediately started westward and settled on a farm purchased from the U.S. government on Cox Creek, Iowa, where they resided over forty years. Here ten children were born to them of whom but four remain: Nellie K., now Mrs. Smith of Volga, Iowa; Tid_ E.; Alice T.; and Barnum J.

On February 27, 1892, the family moved to Edgewood where they have since resided.

Though afflicted with great physical pain and suffering for several years, the deceased endured with great patience and fortitude, manifesting throughout the greater portion of her life faith in Jesus as her personal Saviour. Especially did she lean on His promises during the closing years and months of her life.

The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the M.E. church, Rev. Wolcott officiating. The remains were tenderly laid to rest in the Edgewood cemetery.
