Truck-train crash kills 1

EARLVILLE, la --- Mrs. Theresa Chapman, 34, of Earlville was killed yesterday afternoon when the pickup truck she was driving collided with an Illinois Central freight train at a crossing here.

The Iowa Highway Patrol said the pickup was thrown about 100 feet by the impact and Mrs. Chapman was thrown out. She was dead on arrival at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids.

EARLVILLE — Services for Mrs. LaVerl (Theresa) Chapman, 35, who died of injuries received in a car-train accident Tuesday, will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Shelly Funeral Home in Manchester; burial in the Fairview Cemetery in Earlville; survivors include her husband, LaVerl; two daughters, Sandra and Connie, both at home; her mother, Mrs. Rosella Lemmer of Cascade; five sisters, Mrs. William Lux of Dubuque, Mrs. Elmer Aschtgen of Cascade, Mrs. Richard Johnson of Marion, Mrs. Dean Mason of Omaha, Neb., and Mrs. Glen Chapman of Manchester; five brothers, Herman Lemmer, Robert and James all of Monticello, Richard of Olin and Michael of Cascade.
