James B. Robertson died of heart disease at his home at Thorpe, Thursday, July 13th, 1905. The deceased has been a resident of this county for over fifty three years and was a man who was loved and respected by all who knew him. His wife and six children survive him.

James B. Robertson was born on Prince Edward Island, April 16th 1826. He was married on August 16, 1849 to Eliza Lillie and came to Iowa in 1852 and soon after settled in Delaware county where he resided until his death. He was of that type of rugged men that came here when the county was new and by hard work and perseverance over came the difficulties of pioneer life. To such men as he should be given much of the credit for the development of this country.

The funeral services were held Sunday forenoon at his late home at Thorpe, Mrs. S. L. Crum, officiating. Interment was made in the Manchester cemetery, under the auspices of the local Masonic order of which the deceased was a member.
