EARLVILLE, Iowa - Nellie B. Salow, 91, of Earlville, died after a lengthy illness, Saturday afternoon, March 1, 1997, at the Delaware County Memorial Hospital, Manchester.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Earlville United Parish, with the Rev. Jean Rabary officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Tuesday at Clifton Funeral Home, Earlville.

Nellie, the daughter of Robert and May Rose (Sperring) Hunt, was born on Sept. 13, 1905, in Earlville. She had lived in the Earlville area all of her life, except for seven years when she lived in the rural Manchester area.

She married Raymond C. Salow on Nov. 30, 1922; he died Feb. 24, 1974.

She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, in Earlville, and the WELCA church ladies. She enjoyed flowers, embroidering, quilting and collecting dolls.

Surviving are seven sons, William (Audrey), of Independence, Donald (Irene), of Manchester, Clarence (Phyllis), Loren, and David (Rosemary), all of Earlville, Gary (LaVonne), of Cove Creek, Wyo., and Richard (Pat), of Greeley; two daughter-in-laws, Mona and Betty Salow, both of Earlville; 58 grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, 112 great-grandchildren, 18 step-great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren, and three step-great-great-grandchildren ; and four sisters, Edythe Binning and Elva Theobald, both of Pine Bluffs, Wyo., Myrtle Honkomp, of Benton, Wis., and Helen Hunt, of Earlville.

She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Marion Young; four sons, Clyde, Walter, Harold and Ray Jr.; two daughter-in-laws, Amber and Irene Salow; five grandchildren, one great-grandchild and one great-great-grandchild; eight brothers, Roy, James, John, Ernest, Charles, Darley, Harold, and Ralph; and seven sisters, Ruth March, Estella Young, Olive Kramer, Esther Schmitz, Ethel Arnold, Gertrude Hackbarth and Rachel Hunt.
