Florence Marie (Peyton) Rafoth 1937-2000

Florence Marie Rafoth, 62, of Delhi, Iowa, died on Monday, April 24, 2000 in Finley Hosptal, Dubuque, Iowa, from complications of diabetes.

Florence was born July 29, 1937, at Rowley, Iowa, to Carl H. and Gertrude (Robison) Peyton. She attended school in Rowley and Dundee. On August 14, 1956, Florence was united in marriage to Walter L. Rafoth at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Florence farmed with her husband for many years. Walter died on September 18, 1987.

Florence continued to live on their farm near Delhi. Florence was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Hopkinton and the United Methodist Church in Delhi. She was active in the United Methodist Presbyterian Women. Florence enjoyed gardening, going to auctions, and collecting salt and pepper shakers. She also enjoyed visiting with family and friends.

Florence is survived by her son, Douglas L. Rafoth of Delhi; her sisters, Deloris (Dick) Fisher of Manchester, Mary (Howard) Swartzkopf of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Jane (Ron) Sickles of Manchester, Janet (Steve) Teel of Walker and Carla (Steve) Dotson of Delaware, Iowa, and her brothers, Bob (Carol) Peyton of Manchester, Bill Peyton of Independence, Dick Peyton of Manchester and Jim (Del) of Bellevue, Nebraska.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, George Peyton and Don Peyton, and two sisters, Doris Peyton and Betty Peyton. Services were held at the first Presbyterian Church at Hopkinton, Iowa at 2:00 Thursday, April 27, 2000. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery at Earlville, Iowa.
