EARLVILLE, Iowa - Donna M. Parkin, 88, of Wellington Nursing Center, Knightdale, N.C., formerly of Manchester and Earlville, died Saturday, Dec. 20, 1997, at Wake Medical Center, Raleigh, N.C.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Congregational United Church of Christ, Manchester, with the Rev. Tom Bauler officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Earlville. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Clifton Funeral Home, Earlville.

She was born on Feb. 24, 1909, in Greeley, daughter of Frank and Mary (Lewis) Matthews. She married Lyle Parkin on Sept. 25, 1928; he died on May 9, 1978. They farmed near Earlville until retiring into Earlville in 1967.

She graduated from Greeley High School and attended the Iowa State Teachers College, Cedar Falls, then taught school. She lived several years in Manchester before moving to North Carolina.

Surviving are two sons, Robert, of Wendell, N.C., and Gary (Jayne), of Raleigh, N.C.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by four brothers, Merl, Frank, Harold and Lewis Matthews; and a sister, Marjorie Stoeffler.
