EARLVILLE, Iowa - Isabel Guetzko, 76, of 1116 Eastmoor Drive, Mason City, formerly of Earlville, died Monday, July 15, 2002, at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa, surrounded by her family.

Graveside services and burial will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Fairview Cemetery, Earlville. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Major Erickson Funeral Home, Mason City. Friends also may call from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Clifton Funeral Home, Earlville.

She was born on Feb. 20, 1926, in Earlville, daughter of John E. and Lois (Irmscher) Clifton.

She married Gene E. Guetzko on Nov. 28, 1946. They spent some years in Corpus Christi, Texas. They relocated to Mason City in November 1966, where she became the bookkeeper/office manager for Edwards-Brandt, retiring in 1988.

She graduated from Earlville High School and the University of Iowa. She was an active member of the National TTT Society, PEO and the Mason City Women's Club. She also was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church.

She enjoyed life to the fullest. In her earlier years, she loved skiing, especially in Colorado. She played golf with her family and friends and spent a few months each winter in Corpus Christi, where she enjoyed the company of the other "winter Texans."

She spent many hours tracing the family genealogy and has extensive records all neatly categorized. Isabel was a beautiful, gracious lady who loved her family and friends and was beloved by them.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 55 years, Gene Guetzko, of Mason City; a daughter, Carolyn (Paul) Gold, of Mason City; and two sons, David (Patty) Guetzko, of Mason City, and Gary (Karen) Guetzko, of Dubuque. She was the proud grandmother of Adam (Shannon) Gold, of Mason City, Erin Gold, of Des Moines, Lisa Guetzko, of Iowa City, Matt and Mark Guetzko, of Mason City, Megan Guetzko, of Ames, and Lauren and Nathan Guetzko, of Dubuque.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Neil E. Clifton.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Hospice of North Iowa and to a charity of choice.
