EARLVILLE, Iowa - Gary Parkin, 57, of Raleigh, N.C., formerly of Earlville, died Tuesday, June 27, 2000, at Louisburg Community Hospital, Louisburg, N.C.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Earlville United Parish, with Rev. Lynn Patrick officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Clifton Funeral Home, Earlville, and after 10 a.m. Monday at the church.

Mr. Parkin was a dispatcher for Raleigh News-Observer.

He was born on May 2, 1943, in Earlville, son of Lyle and Donna (Matthews) Parkin.

He married Jayne Ann Wendt on Oct. 5, 1973, in Galena, Ill. They moved to North Carolina in 1986.

His hobbies included restoring old cars and trucks. He also liked Harley-Davidsons.

Surviving are his wife, Jayne; two sons, Mark (Jennifer), of Youngsville, N.C., and Jason, of Raleigh; a daughter, Kendra (Paul) Quinn, of Raleigh; and three grandchildren, Alexandra, Victoria and Hunter.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Bob, on Aug. 2, 1999; and his parents.
