Joe Von Handorf Dies Suddenly Sunday Morning.

The sudden death of Joseph Anton Von Handorf of Dyersville occurred on Sunday Morning, January 13, 1963, at the family residence at 11:15am. Mr. Von Handorf was 65 years old.

He was born at Steinfeldt, Olenburg, Germany on October 15, 1897, the son of Frank and Josephine ( Knipper ) Von Handorf. He married Mary Reeman in 1923 at Essen, Germany. The couple came to the United States and this city that same summer ( 1923 ) where he spent the remainder of his life.

He was a member of the Xavier Parish Rosary Society.

He is survived by his wife Mary, one aunt, Mrs. Anna Knipper of Dyersville and numerous cousins.

The funeral was held from the Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville on Wednesday, January 16, to St. Francis Xavier Basilica where the Rt. Rev. Msgr. John Mayer read the 10 am Requiem High Mass.

The casket bearers were Art Lammers, Frank Olberding, Clete Goerdt, Hubert Geistkemper, Dick Wieneke and John McClimon. Msgr. Mayer also conducted the graveside service.
