Verna Hermann Passes Away
Verna Mary Hermann, 91, died Monday, June 22, at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester where she had resided the past seven years.
Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Bohnenkap-Vernon funeral home with the Rev. Ernest Hayhow officiating. Burial was at Oakland cemetery, Manchester.
She was born May 26, 1890 at Masonville, the daughter of James M. and Mary (Davis) Kling. She was a 1908 graduate of Manchester high school and attended Iowa State Teachers college, Cedar Falls, one year.
She was married to Joseph Hermann June 4, 1912 at Waterloo.
Mrs. Hermann was a retired homemaker and school teacher. She was a member of the Community Congregational church, Daughters of the American Revolution, Book Review club, Fine Arts club, Manchester Garden club, Kensington, and Delaware County Historical society.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Josephine) Frey of Des Moines, and two grandsons, Marc Hermann and Brock Hermann of Manchester.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Verne; two brothers, and two sisters.
